The first four week course dealt with composition. The second with themes and concepts. This was followed by a course on flash photography, breaking the rules of photography, and Conceptual photography with an emphasis on emotional impact and studio lighting. After a 2-3 year hiatus, I am now taking a course on Landscape photography.

assignment: Ok, time to continue on with our creation. We are going to take our original idea and play with the composition. Shoot it at different angles. Try getting closer to the subject or backing away. Put the subject in different areas of the frame. Don’t be dictated by rules but do keep them in mind.

Why eggs should wear helments. This is a modified picture of the one I submitted for the class. I put in the caption with the thought of using this as an educational poster on the importance of wearing a helmet.

We were ask to choose a theme to shoot a series of photo's througout the the course:
Theme "Macro Shots of Water"

This is the symbol for Biological Hazard. It was on a container used for the disposal of sharp items such as hypodermic needles. The needle is a 23 guage needle this is quite small. This would also make a concept photo for the words safety or caution.

Flash at -1 exposure compensation used to illuminate the background and give a highlight to the drop. 68mm of extension tubes. Some reflections of overhead flourescent lights cloned out of the drop in Photoshop and a slight crop.

I started shooting this flower when it started to rain. So I brought it indoors and set up two flourescent desk lamps slight behind and at the 10 and 4 o'clock positions. Shot with 68 mm of extension tubes at 200mm on a tripod. Several shots were with bounce flash but this shot without flash seemed to bring out the translucent nature of the petals.

Do a ‘macro’ photo (anything smaller than a 4x6 inch print) using a small numbered aperture (e.g. f2.8 or f4). The photo should show a small slice of focus that is effectively placed.

I did not have my macro lens with me today so this is as close as I can get with my 24-105 zoom. Narrow depth of field to focus on the leaf. A mask was applied in photoshop and the surrounding bark was converted to B&W to further emphasize the leaf
